Happythankyoumoreplease

I was really pleased to see this movie on instant Netflix, because I read about it on IMDb a while ago and really wanted to see it. It did not disappoint!

It’s really sweet and the kid in it is adorable.

I’m terrible at describing movies, but this is a really good one.

Bottle Shock

A story surrounding the emergence of California wines in the 1970’s and their win in a blind tasting against French wines.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

“Expecting to relax at their “vacation” cabin, two backwoods boys see their trip turn into a nightmare when they’re accused of being psychotic killers.”

Self aware, most realistic slasher movie in cinematic history. Like every slasher movie, but actually entertaining due to a unique plot motif; there is no psycho hillbilly. Many scenes had my friend and I in hysterics.

This Movie is Not Yet Rated

Good documentary about the motion picture ratings board.  Censorship sanctioned by studios that helps shape culture.

Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)

I thought that this would be another slightly corny, tired science fiction thriller TV series. I started watching because it was a recommendation from Netflix on the basis of Doctor Who and Firefly.

What I got was an intense political, anthropological, moralistic, religious analysis of humanity. The science fiction is present, but never obtrusive. The acting is so well done that I don’t think of these actors as existing independently of the program. The graphics are perfect in the crisp sense of adding to the show so subtly that it takes several episodes to realize how remarkable they actually are. In sum, this is a tastefully designed show with incredibly poignant writing that many people of diverse backgrounds could appreciate equally.

Buried

It just recently got added to Netflix Instant. It’s only star is Ryan Reynolds and it is directed by Rodrigo Cortes.  Ryan Reynolds plays Paul Conroy, an American truck driver in Iraq.  His convoy gets attacked and he wakes up inside an old wooden coffin, buried in the desert.  Considering the whole 90 minute or so movie is taped inside the coffin, Cortes does a WONDERFUL job with the camera angles.  This movie kept me interested the whole time even though the only backdrop was the 6 sides of the wooden coffin and Ryan Reynolds gorgeous face.  I would give this movie a solid 5 stars and recommend that everyone should watch it.

The Life Before Her Eyes

An almost suspenseful tear-jerker (and my favorite movie) about two best friends in high school who get trapped in a bathroom along with the boy who happens to be shooting up the school. He says he’s only gonna kill one of them and that they have to decide who.

Which one will they choose?

Limitless

With Bradley Cooper. I’m only half an hour in, but it’s really good so far.

Editor’s Note- I love that you submitted this a half hour into watching. That first half hour of Limitless must be great y’all!

World’s Greatest Dad

An indie film that stars Robin Williams! A father, whose son accidentally commits suicide in a most humiliating way, decides to cover it up by publishing a faked suicide note. It becomes a hit and he eventually writes a whole journal for the world to read. Such a great movie and I recommend it to anyone of any age.
